The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) is an inter-agency committee tasked with reviewing foreign investment into the United States. CFIUS has jurisdiction over an array of foreign acquisitions of and investments into US businesses. Startups are most likely to encounter CFIUS issues when they raise money from foreign investors in financings or sell their company to foreign investors.
